Anniversary Session at Bok Tower Gardens

Olivia and Ryan eloped 5 years ago on a balcony at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn at Walt Disney World overlooking the water. Olivia wouldn’t have changed the day for anything but always longed for that “wedding day experience.” With the help of their photographer, her dream came true. This session was inspired by Olivia’s romantic taste. She loves lace and bling, which is evident from her gorgeous dress. Also, we had a bouquet made for her to give the feel of a newlywed session on a wedding day. The colors behind it were cream with touches of purple and pink, which complemented the lush atmosphere of Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales, Florida perfectly.

After 5 years of marriage, Olivia and Ryan have some great advice for newlyweds. We asked them to give us a little insight on married life.

What advice would you give newlyweds?
Olivia: Make an effort to always compromise in the midst of disagreement. Remind yourself that you’re on the same team. There’s no need to keep score.
Ryan: Don’t be selfish. Once you’re married you become one. The choices you make now affect someone else.

What was one thing that surprised you about being married?
Ryan: Don’t get me wrong. Marriage is a big deal, but I was surprised how quickly and comfortably we eased into it. It wasn’t this huge transformation or adjustment.
Olivia: Sometimes it feels like we are still dating. I love that he still opens my door and holds my hand.

What is something you do to keep the romance alive?
Ryan: It’s easy to get side tracked with work and day to day routine, but we’ve found that Date Nights keep things exciting. Whether we are going to see a new movie, trying out a new restaurant or taking a couples cooking class we are always looking for fun activities to experience together.
Olivia: Oh! And one more thing: Flirt! Flirting shouldn’t be retired once your spouse puts a ring on it. I believe no matter how long you’ve been together; every relationship needs a healthy dose of flirting with one another.

What is something you can tell newlyweds that you wish you knew when you were first married?
Ryan: Don’t try to please everyone. Do what you feel is best for your marriage, even if it’s not always favored by your friends and family.
Olivia: Not everyone was thrilled that we chose to Elope. Some of our family members are more traditional and that’s OK. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion.
Olivia: But at the end of the day, if the two of you are happy then that’s all that matters. Be each other’s biggest supporters! Remember It’s all going to be ok. Smile, laugh and love together.
