Navy and White Citrus Club Wedding – Jaclyn and Chris
With a navy and white color palette, this couple was going for a true timeless and classic look for their special day. Personal touches were also added, including a charm on Jaclyn’s bouquet of her father who had passed away. The beautiful grande centerpieces and shimmery bridesmaids dresses were just a few of the gorgeous details in this wedding!
From Bride, Jaclyn: What was the best part of your wedding? Why?
Our wedding was the weekend of Hurricane Matthew. Since many of our guests were from out of town, the airport being closed on Thursday night and Friday could have been a total disaster. Even though some our guests couldn’t make it, one of the best parts of our wedding was seeing our friends and family make huge sacrifices to celebrate with us. Our officiant, who is one of my best friends from law school, and his wife drove 15+ hours all the way from Pittsburgh because their flights were cancelled. We had friends fly into Tampa and drive to Orlando to be with us, friends who booked multiple flights just to make sure one of them would work out, and countless other stories. Starting out our married life knowing we had people who loved us that much was pretty amazing.
How did he propose?
We got engaged on the beach in Maui when Chris was living there for work and I was visiting from New York, where I lived at the time. Now we’re both back in D.C.
Advice from Jaclyn, the bride:
What advice would you give other couples about the wedding planning process?
Make sure to work together and make it fun. I worked a ton leading up to our wedding and Chris was there to pick up the slack. Planning a wedding is a ton of work, but if you’re in it together, a lot of the stress will fall away. So much of wedding planning is super fun and make sure to enjoy those times. There’s nothing better than seeing all your planning and ideas come together the day of your wedding. But still, at the end of the day, the wedding IS just a party, and nothing (not even Hurricane Matthew) can stop you from marrying the love of your life.
Is there any advice that you would give engaged couples about married life?
If you were happy and in love enough to get engaged then keep doing what you’re doing when you get married. Be grateful for each other every day.
