Fun Vibrant Lakeside Wedding at Paradise Cove

When you are looking for beach vibes but don’t want to head to the coast, Paradise Cove in Orlando, Florida is a great option. This is what Megan and Jordan loved about the venue and that it allowed them to have the colorful, fun wedding they wanted.

The couple had many special moments included throughout their day, from their first look to their first dance. They even had family members partake. Megan’s brother-in-law became ordained just so he could officiate the wedding. He added sweet personal touches that were so meaningful for the couple. Her brother also sang and played the guitar as she walked down the aisle.

When it came to the decor, Megan and Jordan wanted it to match the vibrant beachy vibes of the venue. They used turquoise, pinks, coral, and yellow as their color palette which also played off the beautiful foliage of Paradise Cove. Starfish could also be found throughout the decor, pulling the whole beach theme together!

From Bride, Megan:

How did you both meet?

Jordan and I met at Lakeville Elementary. It was our first year teaching. He teaches P.E. and I teach Kindergarten. We had seen each other around school and had talked briefly about work. It wasn’t until Open House night at school that we had our first conversation. Open House had just ended and I was left with a plate of cookies I had brought in for my families to enjoy. As I walked down the hallway, I had heard someone running behind me calling for “Ms. Matthews.” I turned around to see the cute PE coach. I thought he wanted a cookie so I offered him one. However, he asked if he could get a date with me instead.

From Bride, Megan:

What were your favorite parts of the wedding day?

One of my favorite parts of the day was the first look. Jordan loves nerf guns and so I decided to shoot him with nerf gun when he turned around for our first look. I loved having an intimate time with him to take photos together before the wedding began. The wedding day goes by so quickly so it was really special we had that time to slow down and enjoy the moment.

From Bride, Megan:

How did he propose?

We are both Disney lovers. On the morning of November 19, 2017, Jordan asked if I wanted to go to Disney’s Magic Kingdom later that afternoon and of course, I said yes. The two of us headed out to Disney, and it felt like a normal date night out. Magic Kingdom was already decorated for Christmas time and he knows I love Christmas trees so he asked if I wanted to take a picture in front of it. While we were waiting in the long line to get our picture, Jordan headed off to the bathroom, where his cousin had been waiting with the ring secretly. When we finally got to the front of the line we took a picture together and then he asked if we could take one more. Before I knew it, he was down on one knee with a ring asking me to marry him. As soon as I said yes, I turned around and saw his family and my family pop out, as they had been hiding around the corner. It was magical! He was able to surprise me and get our entire family (both our families are so big) to come out and celebrate with us!

From Bride, Megan:

We almost chose to skip on a cake as we are both not huge cake lovers ourselves. We had added milkshakes with french fries and key lime pie shooters to our catering package for dessert. However, our families convinced us to do a cake and I’m glad we did because we got the most compliments on how delicious the cake tasted.

From Bride, Megan:

What was most important to the two of you while planning?

Photography and videography was the most important thing to us! All of our friends and family that have already been married before, gave us the advice to make sure we splurged on photography and videography. When Jordan and I met Bumby of Bumby Photography and Corban and Mandy of Love & Lustre Weddings, we hit it off instantly with them and knew we had made a great choice for a photographer and videographers! We love their work they did and will have these photos and videos to look back on forever! So worth it!

What is your advice for couples going through the wedding planning process?

Organization is key! I made to-do lists for each part of the wedding: rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception. Each time I finished something on the list, I would highlight it so I could stay focused on completing things in a timely manner. Most importantly though, don’t sweat the small stuff. The day goes by so quickly that if something does not go as planned it won’t even matter in the end. As long as you are having fun with your spouse and your family and friends that attend, that is all that matters. Also, I strongly encourage first looks or finding a time that you can step aside just the two of you. The whole day goes so fast that my best advice is to get with your significant other and stand back and just look around at the wedding and take it all in together as a new couple. Enjoy the moment!
